Care & Instructions
Thank you for choosing Orendo & Co. We believe in quality, durability, and comfort, and we’re committed to helping you get the most out of your backpack. This care and instruction guide will help you maintain your backpack so it continues to perform at its best.
General Care Instructions
To extend the life of your backpack, please follow these easy maintenance tips:
-
Keep it Dry:
- Avoid exposing your backpack to prolonged moisture. If it gets wet, allow it to air dry naturally in a well-ventilated area, away from direct heat sources (like radiators or stoves) as excessive heat can damage the material.
-
Clean Regularly:
- Surface Dirt: Wipe the exterior with a damp cloth to remove any surface dirt or stains. For stubborn stains, mix a mild detergent with warm water and gently scrub with a soft brush.
- Interior Cleaning: For interior spills, empty all contents and wipe with a soft cloth. If a deeper clean is necessary, gently vacuum or wipe the inside with a cloth moistened in warm water.
- Spot Clean First: Always try spot cleaning before using any washing methods for more thorough cleaning. Harsh detergents and machine washing can degrade the material and cause premature wear.
-
Avoid Overloading:
- Your Orendo & Co. backpack is designed for durability, but it has weight limits. Avoid stuffing it with more weight than it is intended to carry, as this can strain zippers, seams, and straps.
-
Store Properly:
- When not in use, store your backpack in a cool, dry place. Avoid cramming it into tight spaces where it can lose its shape.
Washing Instructions
If washing is needed, here are the safest methods:
-
Hand Wash (Preferred):
- Turn your backpack inside out.
- Use a soft sponge or cloth with a mixture of warm water and mild detergent.
- Gently scrub both the interior and exterior to remove dirt or stains.
- Rinse with clean, cool water and hang to air dry.
-
Machine Wash (if applicable):
- Only machine wash backpacks made of durable fabrics like canvas or nylon, and remove any detachable components like straps or accessories.
- Use a gentle cycle with cold water.
- Ensure zippers are fully closed and any pockets are emptied.
- Always air dry after washing, as heat from the dryer can cause damage.
Warning:
- Always follow specific fabric care instructions based on the material of your backpack (i.e. leather, wool, or synthetic materials may require special care). If you’re unsure, test a small area first.
How to Use Your Backpack
-
Adjust the Straps:
- Always adjust the shoulder straps to fit your body comfortably. The straps should rest snugly but not tight against your body. The backpack should sit just above your waist, allowing you to move freely.
-
Pack Smart:
- Distribute the weight in your backpack evenly. Place heavier items closer to your back and at the bottom of the pack.
- For organized packing, use internal compartments and side pockets for easy access to smaller items. Avoid overpacking, which can lead to unnecessary strain on zippers and stitching.
-
Zipper Maintenance:
- Always zip and unzip gently. Forcefully opening or closing zippers can result in damage. If you feel resistance, check for caught fabric or debris and gently work it loose.
Troubleshooting
-
Zipper Issues: If your zipper is stuck, apply a small amount of graphite or a zipper lubricant to help ease it. Avoid using sharp objects which may tear the fabric.
-
Strap Damage: In case the straps show signs of wear, check if any adjuster buckles need replacement. Contact customer support if any part needs fixing or if your backpack is under warranty.
